Food For All: The Book

Introduction

This book is a call to action—a challenge to each of us to imagine and work toward a sustainable and equitable “Food For All” city. In these pages, you’ll find stories, reflections, and insights that uncover the realities of food insecurity—not just as a distant issue, but as an urgent, personal one that affects our neighbors, our families, and our entire community. Food is fundamental. Yet, even in a world of abundance, many still go hungry.

Our food system often serves profits over people, leaving families—sometimes right in our own neighborhoods—wondering where their next meal will come from. Addressing this injustice is not just about providing temporary relief; it’s about transforming policies, practices, and attitudes that perpetuate inequality.

From the Book

Many of you reading this know what it’s like to not have food. You’ve been hungry before. You know because of lived experience that no one should have to worry about food. Like breathing in fresh air, having access to food should be as natural as inhaling and exhaling.
